St Luke's and Christ Church are founding members of Glass Door Homeless Charity, London's largest winter night shelter. Over one hundred men and women attend the shelters every night during the coldest months of the year, and many more share a warm meal. Glass Door also offer showers, laundry facilities, and second-hand clothing at their base in Chelsea.
Many homeless guests are supported by a caseworker who is on hand to offer advice and practical support, with many guests being helped to move into more permanent accommodation. Many more are helped to find jobs or referred to appropriate services.
The project is supported by over 300 volunteers who not only help make and serve food, but sit with guests during meals. Could you volunteer one evening or early morning once a week during the winter months?
