What is confirmation? The meaning is in the name – it is publicly confirming or embracing promises made at your baptism.
On Sunday 1 July 2018 the Rt Revd Dr Graham Tomlin, Bishop of Kensington, presided at the Sung Eucharist and Service of Confirmation at St Luke’s, during which 22 young people were confirmed. Our next Confirmation Service will be held next summer for those in Year 6 and above. We are waiting for the Bishop's office to confirm a date for 2019. Please do contact us if you would be interested in being confirmed.
Confirmation marks the point in the Christian journey at which adults or children decide to affirm for themselves the faith into which they were baptised and their intention to live a life of committed discipleship within the church. We have been delighted this year by the many candidates who have already expressed an interest in taking this significant step in their faith journey, and would still be glad to hear from any other adults, for whom the preparation sessions start in May.
Youth Confirmation candidates (Year 6 +) will be expected to attend a series of eight preparation sessions.
For adults who are considering Confirmation, we shall be holding an opening session (to which Confirmation candidates from recent years are also invited).
