The parish covers an area of Chelsea stretching from the Embankment to Fulham Road, and from Old Church Street to almost the back of Peter Jones. It is made up of the two old parishes of St Luke and of Christ Church, and it includes the Royal Hospital which has its independent military chaplain and chapel.
The parish includes some of the most expensive housing in the country and also several Charity and Council estates. There is also a need to care for homeless people. We are very involved in the West London Churches Homeless Concern and one of their night shelters in housed in one of our buildings.
The parish contains the Royal Brompton and Royal Marsden Hospitals but both are under separate chaplaincy. Thamesbrook Nursing Home, St Wilfrid’s Home in Tite Street, a clinic for rehabilitation in Radnor Walk and the Royal Hospital are all in the parish.
The parish comes under the active patronage of the Earl Cadogan.
The two churches merged in 1987 and became one parish although both still retaining parish church status. The churches share a parish office (in St. Luke's Crypt), the parish magazine, social events, children's (& other) committees and the same ethos. There is one Parochial Church Council, each church has its own District Church Council and its own accounts.
