Confirmation

Confirmation

What is confirmation? The meaning is in the name – it is publicly confirming or embracing promises made at your baptism.

CONFIRMATION

On Sunday 18 June 2017 at 10.30 am, the Rt Revd Dr Graham Tomlin, Bishop of Kensington, will be presiding at the Sung Eucharist and Service of Confirmation at St Luke’s, during which we shall be presenting a number of adult and youth candidates to be confirmed.

Confirmation marks the point in the Christian journey at which adults or children decide to affirm for themselves the faith into which they were baptised and their intention to live a life of committed discipleship within the church.  We have been delighted this year by the many candidates who have already expressed an interest in taking this significant step in their faith journey, and would still be glad to hear from any other adults, for whom the preparation sessions start in May.

Youth Confirmation candidates (Year 6 +) will be expected to attend a series of eight preparation sessions, which will be held at 3.45 pm at Christ Church on the following dates:

Weds 15 March

Weds 22 March

Weds 26 April

Weds 3 May

Weds 17 May

Weds 24 May

Weds 7 June

Weds 14 June

For adults who are considering Confirmation, we shall be holding an opening session (to which Confirmation candidates from recent years are also invited) at 8 pm on ................ at the Rectory, followed by sessions at 8 pm – 9.30 pm on these evenings:

tbc shortly

There will be a rehearsal for all candidates at 10 am on Saturday 10 July, 10.30am at St Luke’s Church, prior to the service on Sunday 3 July.

All candidates are also warmly invited to join a pilgrimage to St Albans, to mark the feast of St Alban on ......... (see https://www.stalbanscathedral.org/worship-and-music/the-alban-pilgrimage), together with family members, and any other members of the parish who would like to join us.

Please note that the Confirmation Service was originally advertised as taking place at Christ Church at 11 am, but due to the high numbers of candidates, we have decided to move it to St Luke’s at 10.30 am, to be sure we can accommodate the candidates and their guests as well as all the members of our regular congregations at this United Parish Service.

Please speak to the clergy with any queries and contact the Parish Office .
